More evacuation details

From the NY Times: Police Begin Seizing Guns of Civilians.

Go through this article and read the details. The weapons confiscation in advance, amid people dead on left and right. The ban on civilians having weapons of any kind (this is America, anyone remember the Second Amendment?). The "option" being offered of "voluntary evacuation" before being forced out. The choice of using police rather than National Guard. The "support" being offered by the president from the dry comfort of Washington. Even if I would believe that Gaza has nothing to do with this hurricane, I would say that it has been used as a textbook lesson in this evacuation.

Apparently we needn't take anyhting out of Gaza, the loters have done the Job. Pity on those Jews that donated funds to keep the greenhouses and public works. All is now in shambles. This way though, it's the Arabs' fault.

Leaving the place in less than shambles would have gotten across the point we need. I don't mean take with you all the expensive hospital equiment, I mean destroy everything. The buildings. The schools. The hospitals. The post offices. The electricity/water/telephone buildings. The electricity/phone lines. All the infrastructure. Everything. You want land? Take it. You will not use that which we have built up with our blood.

The point will have come across in a most powerful way. The Arabs are not capable of constructing anything positive themselves, certainly not with the corruption in the PA. To quote Donald Rumsfeld, "Their main specialty is destroying things they could never have built themselves using technology they could never have developed themselves".

But, as I have always commented on other blogs, Sharon did not give away Gaza with security concerns or the good of Israel in mind. So even this little was not done.

I lived near Gaza city in the '60s. The Arabs there (they didn't call themselves Pals then) had nothing - no sewage treatment, no fresh water, no electricity, no phones, no public health, no shoes. Cholera outbreaks would kill them off like flies - cholera spread when they irrigated crops with raw sewage. Israel GAVE them all the infrastructure they now have. They shouldn't be complaining. Nor should anyone else.
